Globale Bildungsdefizite: Wie fehlende Grundkompetenzen Entwicklungschancen hemmen

Abstract

Für die weltweite Entwicklung ist es von größter Bedeutung, dass alle Kinder mindestens grundlegende Kompetenzen erlangen. Unsere aktuellen Forschungsergebnisse zeigen jedoch, dass die Welt weit davon entfernt ist, das Ziel einer universellen qualitativ hochwertigen Bildung zu erreichen: Mindestens zwei Drittel der Jugendlichen weltweit erreichen nicht einmal ein grundlegendes Kompetenzniveau. Die Spanne reicht von 24 % in Nordamerika und der Europäischen Union bis 89 % in Südasien und 94 % in Afrika südlich der Sahara. Durch das Fehlen von universellen Basiskompetenzen entgeht eine weltweite Wirtschaftsleistung von über 700 Bio. US-Dollar oder 12 % des zukünftigen BIP
