Überlegungen zur mittelfristigen Entwicklung des elektronischen Handels

Abstract

Die Wachstumsaussichten des elektronischen Handels werden von vielen Faktoren bestimmt, die nur zum Teil von den Unternehmen beeinflusst werden können. Dazu gehört, neben der Investition in Hardware und Programme, vor allen Dingen der erhebliche Zusatzaufwand für Lernen, Standardisierung, Kommunikation, Beratung und organisatorische Anpassung innerhalb des Unternehmens. Befragungen des ifo Instituts zeigen, dass die für die automatische Abwicklung des elektronischen Handels notwendigen innerbetrieblichen Infrastrukturen bei der Mehrzahl der Unternehmen noch nicht in ausreichendem Umfang vorhanden sind. Zentrale Kundendatenbanken z.B. waren im Durchschnitt nur bei etwa 11 % der befragten Betriebe zu beobachten. Zwar liegen vergleichbare Daten für die USA nicht vor, Experteninterviews lassen jedoch annehmen, dass die Situation dort ähnlich ist. Angesichts der Entwicklungsdefizite ist deshalb trotz der stetigen Weiterentwicklung, mit einem Boom des elektronischen Handels in den nächsten Jahren nicht zu rechnen.
