Verpufft die Steuersenkung in den Preisen?

Abstract

Die Einkommensteuerbelastung der privaten Haushalte wird im laufenden Jahr um rund 25 Mrd. DM sinken, die verfügbaren Einkommen und damit der Ausgabenspielraum in entsprechendem Volumen steigen. Bisher sind allerdings die Konjunkturhoffnungen, die an diese Expansion der privaten Verbrauchsausgaben geknüpft wurden, enttäuscht worden. Maßgeblich hierfür ist die unerwartet starke Inflation. Insgesamt werden von der diesjährigen Steuersenkung keine größeren Impulse auf den Konsum ausgehen. Sie dürfte zum größten Teil lediglich die Mehrausgaben kompensieren, die den privaten Haushalte im laufenden Jahr durch die Teuerung bei Nahrungsmitteln und Energieträgern direkt und indirekt im Vergleich zum Vorjahr entstehen.
