75 Jahre Soziale Marktwirtschaft und 30 Jahre Europäischer Binnenmarkt: Ausgangsbasis für weiteren Erfolg

Abstract

Die Soziale Marktwirtschaft und der Europäische Binnenmarkt feiern im Jahr 2023 ihr 75- bzw. 30-jähriges Bestehen. Beide Konzepte setzen gleichermaßen auf marktwirtschaftliche Prinzipien und freiheitliche Elemente. Sie basieren auf der Erkenntnis, dass der Marktmechanismus für die optimale Zuteilung von knappen Ressourcen sorgt und der Staat die freiheitliche Wirtschaftsordnung sichert. Idealerweise bestimmen die eigenen Fähigkeiten und Leistungen über den Werdegang einer Person und nicht die soziale Herkunft oder staatliche Privilegien. Leistungs- und Chancengerechtigkeit sind daher zentrale Grundsätze der Sozialen Marktwirtschaft. Mit seinen vier Grundfreiheiten verkörpert der Europäische Binnenmarkt wie kein anderes europäisches Projekt die unternehmerische und personelle Freiheit der Bürger und Unternehmen Europas. Der Binnenmarkt ist eng mit den Erfolgen der EU als Friedensprojekt und Wachstumsmotor verknüpft. Mit ihrem Fokus auf Freiheit, Eigenverantwortung und Wettbewerb haben die Soziale Marktwirtschaft und der Europäische Binnenmarkt zum wirtschaftlichen und gesellschaftlichen Erfolg Deutschlands und Europas entscheidend beigetragen. Die Erfolge sollten jedoch nicht darüber hinwegtäuschen, dass Deutschland und Europa vor großen Herausforderungen stehen, die bewältigt werden müssen, wie die Publikation zeigt. Die Soziale Marktwirtschaft und der Europäische Binnenmarkt müssen sich daher als Ausgangsbasis für weiteren Erfolg immer neu bewähren.
