Biotechnologie-Gründungen im Ruhrgebiet: Eine vergleichende Analyse

Abstract

Auch im Ruhrgebiet sind Anzeichen einer regionalen Häufung von Biotechnologie-Gründern zu beobachten. In qualitativer Hinsicht ist das Ruhrgebiet wenig attraktiv für Gründer aus anderen Regionen und solchen mit hohem Innovationspotenzial. Das Ruhrgebiet hat bisher keine einzige Risikokapital-finanzierte Biotechnologie-Gründung. Deutschlandweit hingegen wird Risikokapital von jeder fünften Biotechnologie-Gründung genutzt. Die bayerischen Biotechnologie-Regionen spielen dabei eine Vorreiterrolle. Das Ruhrgebiet verfügt kaum über schnell wachsende junge Biotechnologie-Unternehmen. Die übrigen Biotechnologie-Regionen in NRW schneiden vergleichsweise besser ab als das Ruhrgebiet. Bei den Indikatoren zum Unternehmenswachstum und dem Einwerben von Risikokapital sind sie im deutschlandweiten Vergleich sehr weit vorn positioniert.
