Il rapporto tra Economia e Società nella ricerca sul capitale sociale. Un tentativo di impostazione contabile e una classificazione “funzionale” della letteratura

Abstract

Nel dibattito sulla crescita economica si moltiplicano gli studi che attribuiscono un ruolo rilevante al tessuto sociale e istituzionale dell’economia, nella convinzione che non sia possibile interpretare correttamente i fenomeni economici senza tenere conto della loro dimensione relazionale. Obiettivo di questo articolo è dare un contributo alla ricostruzione del sistema di interconnessioni esistente tra Economia e Società, attraverso l’analisi dei meccanismi che consentono alle interazioni sociali e ai processi produttivi di merci di influenzarsi a vicenda. Lo schema interpretativo qui presentato si basa sulla considerazione di tre settori che interagiscono tra loro determinando il processo di riproduzione economica e sociale della società: il settore di mercato, il settore pubblico e il settore delle interazioni sociali, che viene chiamato “settore dei valori d’uso”. La prima parte dell’articolo rappresenta le connessioni tra Economia e Società attraverso uno schema di contabilità nazionale, che costituisce una “griglia” nella quale attribuire adeguata collocazione analitica all’interazione dei flussi e degli stock provenienti dai tre settori. La seconda parte si propone di ricostruire il contenuto empirico di tali interazioni alla luce del dibattito in corso sul capitale sociale, dando conto dei risultati ottenuti dalle scienze sociali nell’analisi del rapporto tra Economia e Società negli ultimi decenni. L’operazione ha un duplice scopo: da un lato conferisce significato empirico allo schema contabile proposto, dall’altro fornisce un nuovo criterio di classificazione della crescente letteratura sul capitale sociale, basato sulle concrete potenzialità analitiche di ciascun filone di ricerca. Infatti sono presi in considerazione soltanto gli studi che possono essere efficacemente inseriti nello schema, contribuendo in modo fertile alla ricostruzione del sistema di interrelazioni esistente tra Economia e Società.
