Impacto de los Obstáculos al Conocimiento en la Innovación de las Empresas Chilenas

Abstract

La mayoría de la literatura previa sobre obstáculos a la innovación se ha centrado en el impacto de las restricciones financieras. En este trabajo, utilizando la 8va Encuesta de Innovación en Chile, se analiza el efecto de los obstáculos relacionados al conocimiento sobre la probabilidad de innovar. Los resultados indican que la escasez de conocimiento, una vez que se considera su endogeneidad, reduce la probabilidad de innovar de las empresas chilenas. Se encuentra que este efecto negativo se da tanto para la innovación tecnológica, como para la no tecnológica. Esto tiene implicancias importantes para el diseño de políticas públicas que no sólo deben enfocarse en los problemas de financiamiento, sino también enla disponibilidad de recursos humanos y la información sobre mercados y nuevas tecnologías
