Changements observes au niveau de la diversification des entreprises du secteur canadien de la fabrication (de 1973 a 1997)

Abstract

Le present document de recherche etudie les changements observes au niveau de la diversification des entreprises et des usines depuis le debut des annees 70 dans le secteur canadien de la fabrication. Il revele qu'il y a eu, en general, une augmentation de la specialisation tant des entreprises que des usines. Les entreprises reduisent continuellement le nombre d'industries a l'interieur desquelles elles font des affaires, surtout lorsque les industries ne sont pas reliees. On a egalement observe une specialisation des produits au niveau des usines; par opposition a la specialisation sur le plan industriel, la specialisation des produits est cependant apparue a la fin de la periode, au moment, ou a peu pres, ou l'Accord de libre-echange entre le Canada et les Etats-Unis a ete mis en oeuvre. Le degre de specialisation des usines a surtout augmente a l'interieur de celles qui ont le plus solidement envahi les marches d'exportation.
