    Abstract

The 9th International Conference “Youth and Women Entrepreneurship in Challenging International (Global) Business Environment” was held on 11 - 14 June 2018, in the Lighthouse Golf and SPA Resort, Black Sea, Bulgaria. As with previous conferences, this one has led to interesting and useful findings in key areas of entrepreneurship and small business. Participants represented a number of countries from several continents. As always, mention should first be made of the keynote speakers as follows: - Prof. Shailendra Vyakarnam, Director of the Bettany Centre for Entrepreneurship, Cranfield School of Management, United Kingdom; - Prof. Thomas (TE) du Plessis, President of the South African Council for Small Business, Professor Emeritus and former Dean of School of Business and Governance at the North-West University, South Africa; - Prof. Lichia Saner-Yiu, Centre for Socio-Eco-Nomic Development (CSEND), and social entrepreneur, Geneva, Switzerland. All three panellists presented key points in entrepreneurship and SMEs, analysing the theoretical and applied aspects of education, specific features and problems in SMEs, and the odyssey of a woman a social entrepreneur. These Conference Proceedings are limited to 15 papers grouped into four strands - with some of the other papers presented being directed to alternative publications. They discuss important themes in entrepreneurial theory and practice, such as: key aspects of women and youth entrepreneurship, the use of management methods and approaches in SMEs, the relationship between a subsidiary and the parent company, the digitization of entrepreneurial activity, the preparation of creative professionals, international preparation of entrepreneurs, and lesser-known approaches to business transfer in SMEs. Undoubtedly, an important aspect of BAMDE Conference 2018 was the friendly atmosphere which, based on participants' opinions, proved excellent for networking and partnership - something upon which we put great emphasis. See you in June 2019 at the '10th anniversary' BAMDE Conference.
