Abstract

Working paper on interrelations among family and social roles, household production and fertility of rural women in Kerdassa, Egypt. Discusses living conditions, cultural factors, economic role, unpaid work, income generating activities (incl. weaving, handicrafts and subsistence farming), sexual division of labour, family planning and social status. Includes profiles of the self- employed. Stresses the need for improved educational opportunities, vocational training and health services. Bibliography.
