Sex inequality in an African urban labour market: the case of accra- tema

Abstract

Working paper comprising a case study of unequal opportunity in the urban area labour market in Accra-Tema, Ghana, with particular reference to sex discrimination and woman worker labour market segmentation - examines the labour force participation of women, their occupational status, educational level, marital status, family size and background, child care arrangements, family planning, etc., and discusses management attitudes, employees attitudes and behaviour, and trade unionization. Bibliography pp. 77 to 82 and statistical tables.
