Abstract

Working paper on the implications of a basic needs strategy for development of the rural industry of edible oil production in India - analyses the various processes of oil crushing, covers cost structure, production factors, productivity, capital needs, labour intensive employment creation potential, demand for edible oils, etc., and highlights some of the problems facing choice of technology in this sector. References and statistical tables.
