Income redistribution, technology and employment in the footwear industry

Abstract

ILO pub-wep pub. Working paper on impacts of income redistribution on employment in the rubber shoe industry (both formal and informal sector) in the urban area of kumasi, Ghana - analyses consumer expenditure, compares labour productivity, marketing costs and retail prices, and concludes that redistribution enables employment creation in the informal sector due to its heavy reliance on apprenticeship. Questionnaire and references.
