Vulnérabilité, paradoxe et RSE

Abstract

Comment gérer des contraintes irréconciliables qui sont en même temps liées ? Cette question est de plus en plus prégnante dans un monde où les organisations sont amenées à satisfaire plusieurs parties prenantes, dont les actionnaires et les institutions et ONG impliquées dans le développement durable. La vulnérabilité est un concept très proche de celui du risque qui est une construction sociale alliant la probabilité d'une occurrence avec l'impact néfaste qui est anticipé si celle-ci se réalise. Le risque peut être conçu soit comme un événement inévitable ou soit pouvant être évité par un processus de conscience et d'adaptabilité basé sur le Sensemaking. La première approche ne laisse aucune place à l'anticipation alors que la seconde ouvre des pistes d'actions. De plus, le risque n'est pas forcément le même en fonction des parties prenantes engagées dans une organisation qui peuvent donc imposer des contraintes irréconciliables à celle-ci. La conjonction du Sensemaking et des parties prenantes exerçant un pouvoir de même force sur l'organisation, place celle-ci dans une situation paradoxale d'où elle doit sortir sous peine d'immobilisme ou de tombée dans des cercles vicieux. Par une approche adaptée, la situation peut évoluer vers des cercles vertueux en mesure d'apporter de la durabilité. La gestion des paradoxes dans un contexte de RSE offre des alternatives qui permettent de dégager une capacité stratégique où celle-ci semblait inexistante. Cette proposition conceptuelle d'apporter une vision paradoxale aux organisations pour adapter leurs capacités stratégiques dans le cadre des vulnérabilités trouvant leurs origines dans la RSE est une étape restant validée par des études sur le terrain dans un domaine en pleine transformation.
