L'héritage physiocrate dans les territoires ruraux

Abstract

Longtemps moquées, certaines idées physiocrates semblent aujourd'hui redécouvrir un nouvel intérêt, notamment lorsque le consentement à l'impôt est remis en question par des mouvements sociaux tels que les Gilets Jaunes, lorsque des agriculteurs peinent à rémunérer leur travail au juste prix ou encore lorsqu'une pandémie nous rappelle qu'on ne peut oublier certaines lois naturelles… Proches des Encyclopédistes et des Lumières, considérés encore aujourd'hui comme les premiers à proposer une théorie économique cohérente, les Physiocrates semblent finalement ouvrir très tôt le débat sur le rôle économique de l'Etat, en recherchant une allocation des ressources pouvant profiter au plus grand nombre. Cet article s'attache à rechercher la trace de leurs réflexions et de leurs expériences dans la Lorraine du XVIIIe siècle puis examine l'héritage qu'on peut en retirer aujourd'hui dans des territoires ruraux, en illustrant celui-ci par le cas de Preny.
