Abstract

The threat of war changes the strategies of states and influences national economies and the interdependencies necessary for globalization. After the Cold War, which highlighted these conflictual relations, the question is whether another economic war has not been initiated by the United States. Washington imposes its rules thanks both to the strength of its economy, but also to a military power against which other states and international organizations cannot resist. The American system engages in an organized hunt for international contracts, and Washington's extraterritorial laws are applied against its adversaries as well as its allies. They are testimony to American leadership based on economic retaliation and military power.
