Abstract

Cet article interroge les liens entre l'empirisme et l'économie libérale. En quoi le fait de placer la sensation à l'origine des connaissances peut-il conduire à faire de l'homme un être en quête incessante de plaisirs ? Sa thèse est la suivante : c'est au moyen de la fiction de « l'homme originaire » que Condillac et Turgot tissent ce lien. Ce qui émerge au xviiie siècle au travers de cette fiction, c'est, plus précisément, l'idée de self-made-man.
