Productivity gaps, price advantages and competitiveness in EC agriculture

Abstract

La théorie des nombres indices est utilisée pour calculer des parités de pouvoir d'achat spécifiques sur un panier de biens constitué des inputs entrant dans la production de blé, betterave, porc et lait, entre 10 pays de la CEE. Une analyse des rapports de prix auxquels font face les agriculteurs des différents pays met en évidence des distorsions considérables malgré le caractère commun de la PAC. Des indices multilatéraux de volume et de productivité montrent que la quantité physique de biens et services nécessaire à la production d'une unité produit agricole est très différente entre pays. La combinaison des effets "quantité" et "prix" permet une analyse de la compétitivité des agricultures européennes.
