Abstract

Presque quinze ans après l'étude de H. Mintzberg, et presque quinze ans avant l'étude de Y. Lemarié, notre thèse, soutenue en 1983 sous la direction de R. Reix, avait pris sa place dans la longue suite des investigations sur les dirigeants: notre objet d'analyse n'était pas les managers en général, mais bien LE dirigeant, cet acteur qui tient une place si particulière dans l'imagerie de l'entreprise, et le terrain d'étude était volontairement la petite entreprise de moins de 100 salariés. Dans cet article nous nous interrogerons d'abord sur les renouvellements possibles dans cette longue suite de travaux empiriques sur les managers, avant de réfléchir aux nouvelles approches théoriques qui pourraient aujourd'hui être mobilisées pour mieux cerner le dirigeant, cet acteur si particulier.
