¿Cómo afectan los impuestos y las prestaciones públicas a los hogares en riesgo de pobreza?

Abstract

El trabajo examina cómo afecta a los hogares españoles en riesgo de pobreza la intervención pública llevada a cabo a través de impuestos (directos e indirectos) y prestaciones públicas (monetarias y en especie), en el año 2018. El análisis se realiza, en primer lugar, de forma agregada, comparando el impacto distributivo de impuestos y prestaciones en los hogares situados bajo el umbral de pobreza y en los demás hogares. Seguidamente, se muestran los resultados obtenidos para diversas tipologías de hogares según su tamaño, composición y edades, así como según la fuente principal de sus ingresos. En todos los casos, se han obtenido también resultados diferenciando según el sexo del sustentador principal del hogar. El saldo de la intervención pública (prestaciones – impuestos) para los hogares en riesgo de pobreza es claramente positivo: un 50,5% de su renta bruta (59,1% para los hogares sustentados por mujeres y 44,9% para los sustentados por hombres), frente a un 1,8% negativo para el resto de los hogares.
