Abstract

Pour examiner la question de la répartition des ressources au sein du ménage, les économistes ont d?abord été tentés d'étendre les modèles de comportement développés pour les personnes seules (qui sont généralement jugés comme satisfaisants par la profession) à des couples ou des familles plus étendues. Cependant, de- vant les limites de cette manière de procéder, telles que l'absence de justifications théoriques convaincantes de la nécessaire agrégation des préférences individuelles, ils ont développé une approche plus générale basée sur la seule hypothèse d'efficacité de l'allocation des ressources. Depuis, les recherches les plus récentes ont considéré de nouvelles généralisations des modèles existants où la situation efficace est seulement un cas particulier.
