L’efficience du secteur ferroviaire européen : Analyse stochastique des effets de la réforme et de la qualité des services

Abstract

A partir du début des années nonante, le secteur ferroviaire européen a connu de profondes mutations suite à l’application des directives européennes. Cet article étudie l’efficience technique des opérateurs de chemins de fer dans 15 pays européens entre 1990 et 2001. L’application de la méthode de la fonction de distance stochastique permet de démontrer l’effet positif des réformes institutionnelles sur la performance technique des entreprises. Elle permet également d’identifier les facteurs spécifiques à ces opérateurs, tels que les caractéristiques de leur matériel roulant et les efforts d’amélioration de la sécurité ferroviaire, qui influencent leurs efficiences techniques.
