Modelos de crecimiento económico iniciales y el papel asignado a la política económica

Abstract

Este documento realiza un análisis comparativo y crítico de las principales teorías del crecimiento económico tanto exógeno como endógeno, a partir del modelo de Harrod-Domar hasta el modelo de Romer, con el fin de establecer la importancia que los modelos de crecimiento asignan a la política económica en el sostenimiento del crecimiento a largo plazo. El estudio muestra que sobre todo en los modelos de última generación, no hay orientaciones de política económica claras, ni con grandes dosis de predicción, ya que a la teoría le ha tocado debatirse entre sacrificar la justificación económica, en aras del rigor matemático que exige la formalización, y/o sacrificar la legitimidad teórica en aras de ofrecer interpretaciones de los procesos económicos como el crecimiento.
