Un Modelo Gravitacional para la Agenda Interna

Abstract

Para identificar y cuantificar la relevancia que los costos de transporte tienen sobre los flujos comerciales de Colombia, a nivel regional y sectorial se construyó un modelo gravitacional. A diferencia de los modelos gravitacionales estándar, en donde se modelan los flujos de comercio entre todos los países del mundo o la mayoría de ellos, el construido en este ejercicio solo contempla los flujos de exportaciones de Colombia. En su versión clásica, el modelo indica que el flujo de comercio entre dos regiones depende positivamente del tamano físico y/o económico de los países y negativamente de la distancia entre ellos. De esta manera, el modelo predice que el nivel de comercio será alto entre regiones de gran tamano o de gran población y entre regiones con ingresos o ingresos per cápita altos, los cuales se aproximan típicamente a través del PIB y PIB per cápita. Además, el modelo también predice que la distancia inhibe los flujos de comercio entre dos regiones al aumentar los costos de transporte.
