Price Rigidity' In The Pork Marketing Channel

Abstract

This paper tests for the existence of price rigidity within the U.S. pork marketing channel using an asymmetric pricing model. Results show that wholesale (packer) prices respond more to farm price decreases than increases. Retailers respond equally to wholesale price increases and decreases.
