Abstract

Africa’s rapidly changing talent landscape presents challenges and opportunities for organizations doing business on the continent. While the region’s economic growth, young population, and relatively high labor force participation hold considerable promise, significant barriers to success must be overcome. This chapter identifies five challenges organizations must navigate to attract, develop, and retain needed talent and offers recommendations that will help tackle those challenges and achieve sustainable growth: building a high-performance organizational culture, bridging the skills gap through information and communication using technologies, designing high-impact compensation and benefits packages, retaining and engaging top talent, and harnessing the power of diversity for competitive advantage.
