Österreichische Umwelttechnikindustrie. Branchenanalyse

Abstract

Laut WIFO-Hochschätzung waren im Jahr 2003 in der österreichischen Umwelttechnikindustrie 330 Unternehmen tätig. Sie erwirtschafteten einen Umsatz von 3,78 Mrd. € und beschäftigten 17.200 Personen. Im Export von Umwelttechnologien wurde ein Umsatz von 2,45 Mrd. € erzielt. Saubere Energietechnologien tragen zu diesem Ergebnis ungefähr die Hälfte bei. Die österreichische Umwelttechnikindustrie ist ein dynamischer Wirtschaftsbereich. So gewinnt der Tätigkeitsbereich "integrierte Technologien" zulasten von nachsorgenden Umwelttechnologien an Bedeutung. Die Untersuchung zeigt so wie schon frühere Analysen, dass die österreichischen Anbieter von Umwelttechnologien sehr innovationsfreudig sind. Österreich hat als kleine Volkswirtschaft durch die frühe Spezialisierung auf das neue Gebiet der Umwelttechnologien eine gute Position im internationalen Wettbewerb erreicht. Die Verfügbarkeit hochwertiger Technologien ist die Voraussetzung für die Sicherung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit in diesem Sektor.
