Patente. Ein Indikator für technologische Leistungsfähigkeit und Internationalisierung

Abstract

Die Studie zeigt den Effekt der Internationalisierung von Unternehmensforschung anhand von grenzüberschreitenden Patentanmeldungen. Multinationale Unternehmen melden zunehmend Erfindungen aus Tochterunternehmen zentral über das Mutterunternehmen bei internationalen Patentämtern an; Patentstatistiken nach Herkunftsland des Anmelders spiegeln deshalb nur unzureichend die technologische Leistungsfähigkeit eines Landes wider. Die Analyse der Patentanmeldungen am EPO zeigt, dass etwa ein Drittel der Erfindungen, an denen österreichische Erfinder beteiligt sind, von ausländischen Organisationen angemeldet werden. Umgekehrt werden in nahezu 20% aller österreichischen Patentanmeldungen ausländische Erfinder angeführt.
