Abstract

La inestabilidad financiera puede tener consecuencias devastadoras para la actividad económica, la estabilidad de precios y los mecanismos de transmisión de la política monetaria. Esto no es novedad en América Latina y el Caribe, que tiene una historia desafortunada de inestabilidad financiera, lo que ha conducido a que muchos bancos centrales tengan un mandato explícito al respecto. Dada la prevalencia de este mandato de estabilidad financiera, la formulación de política se podría beneficiar de un mejor entendimiento del nexo entre política monetaria y estabilidad financiera. Este libro presenta los esfuerzos de un grupo de economistas de bancos centrales de América Latina y el Caribe para avanzar en este frente por medio de una investigación conjunta.
