Abstract

Die Coronakrise hat - wie wohl keine Krise zuvor - deutlich gemacht, wie wichtig aktuelle und verlässliche Daten sind, um gerade in Krisenzeiten fundierte nachhaltige Entscheidungen treffen zu können. Die amtliche Statistik beschreitet bereits seit einiger Zeit neue digitale Wege, um diesen Anforderungen gerecht zu werden. Corona hat dem Ganzen aber unerwartet neuen Auftrieb gegeben und gezeigt, wo Handlungsbedarf besteht: Die Methoden müssen krisenfester werden und Daten müssen aktuell(er) und leicht zugänglich sein. Dieser Aufsatz soll einleiten in unser Corona-Schwerpunktheft, das erste Maßnahmen und Wege aufzeigt, wie es mithilfe der Digitalisierung gelingt, diese Lessons Learned nachhaltig zu nutzen und damit die Relevanz der amtlichen Statistik zu erhöhen.
