Landwirtschaft und Ernährungssicherheit im Kontext des Klimawandels

Abstract

Die landwirtschaftliche Produktion trägt erheblich zum Ausstoß von Treibhausgasen bei. Zugleich leidet die Landwirtschaft zunehmend unter Extremwetterereignissen wie Trockenheit, Dürre und Starkniederschlägen. Die daraus folgenden Ernte- und Produktivitätseinbußen rücken das Thema der Ernährungssicherheit in den Fokus der Diskussion um Klimaschutz und Anpassung der landwirtschaftlichen Produktion bzw. der Ernährungsweise an den Klimawandel. Der vorliegende Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über den Stand der wissenschaftlichen Analyse zur Bedeutung einer klimagerechten Landwirtschaft und Ernährungsweise. Dabei werden zwei Hebel für eine nachhaltige Transformation näher beleuchtet, der Humusaufbau und die Verringerung des Konsums tierischer Lebensmittel.
