Wie Österreich durch die Krise kam und was nun zu tun ist

Abstract

Die österreichische Wirtschaftspolitik stand in den letzten beiden Jahren im Zeichen der COVID-19-Krise. Im internationalen Vergleich liegt Österreich im Mittelfeld, was die Pandemiebewältigung betrifft. Dies gilt sowohl mit Blick auf die Übersterblichkeit als auch auf die wirtschaftlichen Einbußen. Trotz der derzeit erneut angespannten Infektionslage muss die wirtschaftspolitische Aufmerksamkeit wieder verstärkt auf die langfristig wohlstandsrelevanten strukturellen Themen gerichtet werden. Der vorliegende Beitrag beleuchtet schlaglichtartig einige Aspekte der COVID-19-Krise und stellt Überlegungen zur Transformation des Energiesystems und zur Reform der Arbeitsmarktinstitutionen an. Die proaktive Gestaltung beider Politikfelder wird für eine erfolgreiche wirtschaftliche Zukunft des Landes entscheidend sein.
