Österreich-Tourismus 2025: Wachstumsmotor Städtetourismus

Abstract

Die Verlagerung der Tourismusnachfrage zu den Städten und auch zu tourismusextensiven ländlichen Regionen ist Ausdruck einer deutlichen Umorientierung der Freizeitmärkte zu höherer Qualität und Individualisierung des Reiseerlebnisses oder – allgemein ausgedrückt – "postmoderner" Konsum- bzw. Produktionsstrukturen. Der "postmoderne" Konsument bevorzugt maßgeschneiderte Produkte und ist vor allem an gütermäßig erwerbbaren Erlebnissen ("commodified experiences") interessiert. In diesem Sinne haben Städte eine relativ hochentwickelte "postmoderne" Produktionsstruktur, die flexible Herstellungstechnologien umfasst. Die Agglomerationsvorteile von Städten sind Basis von Produktivitätsgewinnen, die wiederum Wachstums- und Innovationsprozesse generieren sowie Anreize für kreative und dynamische Personengruppen bilden. Da der Trend zu Städtereisen langfristig anhalten wird und mit einem Fortschreiten der Urbanisierung zu rechnen ist, ergeben sich Herausforderungen für die Stadtpolitik, die Strukturen entsprechend anzupassen.
