Mäßige Konsumsteigerung – Handel hofft auf gutes Weihnachtsgeschäft

Abstract

Die Sparquote der privaten Haushalte ging in Österreich in den letzten Jahren stetig zurück. Auch im 1. Halbjahr 2002 war sie sehr niedrig. Trotzdem überschritten die Konsumausgaben das reale Vorjahresniveau in diesem Zeitraum nur knapp, weil die Einkommen konjunkturbedingt nur mäßig zunahmen. Einem leichten Zuwachs der Nachfrage nach nichtdauerhaften Waren und Dienstleistungen, des stabilisierenden Elements innerhalb der Konsumnachfrage, stand ein Rückgang der sehr konjunkturreagiblen Ausgaben für dauerhafte Konsumgüter gegenüber. Die Umsätze des Einzelhandels übertrafen zu Beginn des 2. Halbjahres wieder das reale Vorjahresniveau; dies lässt Zuwächse im Weihnachtsgeschäft möglich erscheinen.
