Abstract

MyKad is the world's first multipurpose smart national identical card (NIC). The research investigates issues related to Malaysians' acceptance of MyKad NIC. A questionnaire was designed and two hundred samples were collected from citizens. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results show that Perceived Credibility, Performance Expectancy, Facilitating Conditions, and Anxiety are direct determinants in influencing Intention to Use. Results also reveal that Malaysians have mediocre acceptance of MyKad NIC owing to the above determinants. Recommendations are given to increase the acceptability of smart NIC which are useful for countries implementing smart NIC initiatives.
