Zwischen nicht mehr und noch nicht. Organisationale Routinen als Grundlage des Wandels

Abstract

Organizational routines are widely regarded as a counterforce to change. They are mainly seen as impediments hampering, distorting or even derailing transformation processess. The text argues that organizational routines represent an integral part of a sustainable change process and must be carefully taken into account when planning and implementing interventions. Moreover, by relating to recent findings in cognitive psychology, we argue that routines can only be sustainably changed through their replacement by different routines. Special emphasis is given to the difficult phase in the transformation process where the old routine is already devalued while the new routine has not yet been installed.
