Enterprise as a Social System

Abstract

An enterprise in satisfying defined social needs and sustaining its position creates a specific social system and is simultaneously submerged in the broader social system in which it operates. Without both of these systems—the internal and the external ones—it could neither exist nor do anything. It is therefore possible to distinguish out of different notions and models of enterprises the model of enterprises perceived as a social system. This article aims at reflection on this very system and model. It reviews select issues associated with this theme. The purpose is to inspire reflections and to raise questions on the role of enterpsises at an interdisciplinary level.
