Economic Effect Of Covid-19 Pandemic Lockdown Measures On Business Activities In Nigeria

Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic came with containment lockdown measures such as business closure, restriction of movement, and all economic services except those that were considered essential. This paper seeks to examine the economic effect of the COVID-19 lockdown measures on business activities in the Nigeria. The study takes a developing country perspective. Exploratory examination was undertaken considering four aspects of business activities, which are the business strategy, financing and human resource policy. COVID-19 lockdown has portends significant negative effect on business activities. The Board and Management need to rethink business strategy, financing options and human resource policy as a business continuity plan to ensure business survival.
