Abstract
[eng] The difficulties in Finding a Job for the Unemployed - More than half of those who were unemployed in August 1 986 were still unemployed fifteen months later. Older workers and women had the most difficulties reentenng the job market. A long period of unemployment created an additional handicap in finding a new job. Diplomas were also an element in the selection process. . It was easier for young unemployed workers to find a job than for older ones. But these jobs were often for only a limited period of time, particularly those for young women, and especially for those taking their first job. The jobs found by those who had already worked and were subsequently laid off were often precarious. Those who had precarious jobs often had difficulties in finding stable employment. . A number of adults, particularly older ones, also had non traditional jobs. When they found another job, they sometimes had to accept one of a lower status than their previous employment.
