Abstract

[eng] What do companies expect from employment flexibility ? The attitude of french companies - At the end of 1985, companies on the whole were rather uncertain about the effects to expect from greater flexibility in the work market. Their reactions showed diverse positions. Small industrial companies and large retail trade were the most sensitive to the adaptability. The least sensitive were large industrial companies as well as very small trade. Among the measures considered, a modification of the work week and a relaxing of contracts for a specific length of time were judged the most efficient for employment. Companies seemed all the more favorable to flexibility as they put it into practice and they had an optimistic vision of their situation. Where work week adjustment was concerned, large companies were the most interested.
