ANTECEDENT COUNTERPRODUCTIVE BEHAVIOR: SMEs CASES

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to test the antecedents of counterproductive behavior in SMEs owners in Cilacap, Central Java – Indonesia. This study used 125 owners of SMEs as respondents with purposive sampling technique. Partial Least Square (PLS) statistical technique was used for data analysis. The results show that: (1) organizational stressor has a positive and significant influence towards counterproductive behavior; and (2) spiritual motivation has a negative and significant influence towards counterproductive behavior. In business world, the abandonment of deviant behavior issue does not occur in major companies but also in smaller scale such as SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises).
