Abstract

The organizational culture of a university influences not only the relationships that exist between the members of the academic community but also the quality of the teaching process and students’ development. Based on these, we developed a research in which we focused on analyzing the values system from the oldest Romanian universities. We aimed to find out if the professional status influences the evaluation of the most dominated organizational values. In order to achieve our goal we used an ethical approach and applied our own methodology called “Organizational Values Inventory”. Therefore, through a survey based on questionnaire we evaluated students’ and academics’ perception on 37 organizational values. The research sample was represented by 1165 persons. The results have showed that both, academics and students, believe that the most important values that are promoted in the university culture are: quality, competence, tradition, responsible attitude, focus on results and competition.
