Pató Pál úr modellezése. Irracionalitás az intertemporális döntéshozatalban
[Pál Pató-style modelling. Irrationality in inter-temporal decision-making]

Abstract

Sokan hajlamosak vagyunk a halogatásra. A homo oeconomicus viszont racionális. Ebben a cikkben azt tanulmányozzuk, hogyan modellezhető az a - klasszikus közgazdasági értelmezés szerint irracionális - magatartás, amely a vizsgált egyének nem standard időpreferenciáival jellemezhető. Szemléltetjük, hogy milyen módszerekkel lehet modellezni azt az önérdekkövető, haszonmaximalizáló döntéshozót, aki néha - bizonyos idő elteltével - meggondol(hat)ja magát, azaz intertemporálisan inkonzisztens döntéseket hoz. Bemutatjuk a naiv döntéshozót, aki minden időszakban újraoptimalizál, ami halogatáshoz vezethet, valamint a szofisztikált döntéshozót, aki tudatában van a halogatás lehetőségének, ezért, ha lehet, igyekszik azt megelőzni, például úgy, hogy jóval a határidő előtt végzi el a feladatát. Megmutatjuk, hogy mindkét viselkedési forma ugyanolyan hiperbolikus diszkontálási formula beépítésének a segítségével modellezhető, de míg a naiv fogyasztó előre tekint, a szofisztikált már egyfajta visszagöngyölítést is alkalmaz.
