Betriebliche Beschäftigungsentwicklung und Innovationsaktivitäten : Ergebnisse aus dem IAB-Betriebspanel 1998

Abstract

"Die im Jahr 1998 durchgeführte Erhebung des IAB-Betriebspanels hatte 'Innovationen im Betrieb' als Schwerpunktthema. Diese Studie analysiert empirisch die kurzfristigen Beschäftigungseffekte von Produkt- und Prozessinnovationen und den damit zusammenhängenden organisatorischen Änderungen in den Betrieben anhand der Daten des IAB-Betriebspanels für West- und Ostdeutschland für den Zeitraum 1997 bis 1998. Ähnlich wie bei einigen anderen bislang vorliegenden empirischen Studien wird dabei der Einfluss der Produkt- und Prozessinnovationen zusammen mit anderen Bestimmungsgründen der Beschäftigungsentwicklung wie der Betriebsgröße, der Wirtschaftszweigzugehörigkeit, der Ertragslage, der Lohnhöhe, der Qualifikationsstruktur multivariat untersucht. Die Bedeutung von empirischen Arbeiten auf diesem Forschungsgebiet resultiert daraus, dass sich theoretisch sowohl arbeitssparende als auch beschäftigungsfördernde Wirkungen von Innovationen ableiten lassen. Folglich kann der Gesamteffekt von Innovationsaktivitäten auf die Beschäftigung nur anhand empirischer Studien abgeschätzt werden." (Autorenreferat, IAB-Doku)
