Pro-socially motivated knowledge hiding in innovation teams

Abstract

•R&D engineers may hide knowledge for their organisation's benefit.•Senior staff may hide knowledge on a new idea while they develop and improve it.•Mentors can hide knowledge from junior staff in order to foster learning.•Pro-social knowledge hiding may be good for innovation performance.
