Impact of natural resources, resilient economic growth, and energy consumption on CO2 emissions

Abstract

Understanding how people's utilization of natural resources, the growth of the economy, and changes in energy consumption patterns affect CO2 emissions has profound implications for environmental impact in a global context. This study seeks to investigate the impact of the extraction of natural resources, resilient economic growth, and energy consumption on 160 developing countries' CO2 emissions by employing panel data from 2001 to 2022. A positive relationship is observed between the meaningful use of natural resources and the powerful CO2 emissions. Decentralized economic expansion--frequently associated with energy consumption--seems to have a relationship with emissions that is both positive and negative, according to which types of energy sources are used. While excessive use of renewable energy counteracts increases in emissions, dependence on fossil fuels worsens their environmental effects. The analysis highlights the need for policy measures that encourage sustainable use of resources and energy efficiency.
