Multiple hydra effect in a predator–prey model with Allee effect and mutual interference in the predator

Abstract

In this work we show by means of numerical bifurcation analysis that two alternative stable states exhibit a hydra effect in a continuous time predator-prey model with Allee effect and mutual interference in the predator. We denote this behavior as multiple hydra effect. In addition, it is also shown that there are no cascading effects along the multiple hydra effect interval. In other words, besides the multiple hydra effect, there is a positive correlation between predator and prey densities when the density independent per capita mortality rate of the predator is increased.
