Abstract

This paper presents an experimental demonstration of the generation of bursting patterns in Van der Pol oscillator driven by two types of excitation. It is first shown numerically and experimentally the oscillatory behavior of a Van der Pol oscillator powered by a DC excitation source. Then, in the case of two slowly sinusoidal voltage sources, periodic and chaotic bursting oscillations are generated experimentally. The period of the bursting oscillations diminishes when the excitation frequencies increase. These results are in agreement with the results obtained numerically.
