El impacto tecnológico de la innovación en la industria naval: El Caso de Cotecmar

Abstract

La innovación genera significativas externalidades positivas en el entorno productivo, conocidas como spillovers. Tomando como caso los astilleros de Cotecmar, en Cartagena, Colombia, este trabajo se mide el efecto de la inversión en este tipo de actividades a nivel de las firmas, sobre la rentabilidad de las empresas del entorno a partir de un modelo de panel de datos usando variables instrumentales. Las estimaciones indican que la inversión en ciencia, tecnología e innovación se refleja en un aumento de la rentabilidad general de la empresa que la realiza. Además, se encuentra evidencia de spillovers intra-sectoriales que afectan positivamente los resultados económicos de las demás firmas del sector, principalmente en el contexto de la Región Caribe colombiana.
