Arbeitsbedingungen und Wirtschaftskrise

Abstract

Nicht nur die Löhne und die Arbeitsplatzsicherheit, sondern, was oft übersehen wird, auch die Arbeitsbedingungen in ihrer ganzen Vielfalt sowie das soziale Umfeld arbeitender Menschen sind von den Folgen einer Arbeitsmarktkrise in negativer Weise betroffen. In diesem Aufsatz wird unter Verweis auf neuere empirische Studien dargelegt, wie der Schock der Arbeitslosigkeit und die Angst vor Arbeitsplatzverlust die Lebenszufriedenheit Betroffener signifikant beeinträchtigen, wie die Folgen von Arbeitsmarktkrisen gerade die Schwächsten (darunter jene mit einem fragileren Gesundheitszustand) am härtesten treffen, wie Massenarbeitslosigkeit sogar die Mortalitätsrate Betroffener in kausaler Weise signifikant erhöht und jede kurzfristige Wirtschaftskrise auch extrem nachteilige langfristige Folgen für die von Arbeitslosigkeit Betroffenen mit sich bringt. All diese Befunde stehen in krassem Widerspruch zu Thesen, welche das Entstehen hartnackiger Arbeitslosigkeit ausschließlich als Gleichgewichtsphänomen und als Folge falsch gesetzter sozialstaatlicher Anreize "erklären" wollen. Die Notwendigkeit eines Wohlfahrtstaates wird verteidigt, wobei nicht nur Fairness- und Gerechtigkeitsargumente, sondern auch Gründe einer langfristig orientierten ökonomischen Rationalität herangezogen werden.
